Ybor City

One of Tampa’s largest neighborhoods, Ybor City can be found just to the northeast of the city’s central business district. This district of the city is well-known for its exciting nightlife. A diverse population calls this part of Tampa home, drawn there by the accessibility and variety of local services. Many smaller neighborhoods can be found here, such as Historic Ybor, V.M. Ybor, Ybor Heights, East Ybor, and College Hills.

The Centro Ybor mall offers locals a wide variety of great entertainment and food alternatives. The Ybor City Museum and State Park is home to a gorgeous garden that encircles the entire complex, and it also features unique insights into the history and modern life of the neighborhood.

It is no secret that 7th Avenue in Ybor City is where locals and visitors alike go to enjoy the eclectic mix of vintage shops, chic boutiques, and delicious Cuban and Latin American eateries. Several unique eateries, pubs, and a cinema can all be found at the Centro Ybor shopping center. There are displays about the cigar industry and the local immigrant communities at the Ybor City State Museum, which is housed in a 1920s-era bakery. GaYBOR, located between 7th Avenue and 15th Street, is home to a wide variety of bars and clubs frequented by people from all walks of life.

Much of what makes Tampa Bay unique as a cultural and historical destination may be found in Ybor City. Many of the buildings’ facades are made to look like the old brick ones of cigar manufacturers that were turned into something else as a tribute to the area’s history as the Cigar Capital of the World. To be sure, independent cigar rollers are keeping the tradition alive, but it is only one component of the present and future of this dynamic neighborhood. People can be seen mingling and having a good time on the brick streets and iron balconies of 7th Avenue at all hours of the day and night.

Foodies will love Ybor City for its abundance of unique restaurants and cuisines. In addition to being the oldest restaurant in the state, the Columbia Restaurant is also highly significant culturally. In addition, Casa Santo Stefano Sicilian Restaurant, which debuted not too long ago, has quickly become a favorite due to the quality of the Italian food they provide.
